Surviving sexual abuse is subject of recent book

BOUNTIFUL — A former Bountiful and Woods Cross resident wants to help others overcome the fright sexual abuse can cause in their lives. 

Janice M. Weinheimer has written the book, “The Illness That Healed Me,” published by Vantage Press, recounting her own struggles, and how she has dealt with them. 

“I want to get the message out to assist others. Because of what I’ve gone through, my own feeling, I know how frightened they are, how scary it is,” she said.

"I began to get a glimpse of what living in the fast lane had done to my body. I thought I could go on forever pushing to the limits of exhaustion before I heard the screaming of my body for rest and respite. I hated it when my body wouldn't allow me to do all that my mind was determined to do. I never once stopped to tune into why I had this innate push and drive. I was so intent on doing and achieving, I never realized there was another—and perhaps higher way—of being. I was driven—always had been. I knew no other way, and so I was surprised to read that this might be damaging to my body."
